Welcome to Birth of Clarity’s premium newsletter.
Do you ever observe the world around you and wonder if you fit in? I do. I worry that there is no place in this world for me. I don't say that with any suicidal connotations attached. I just wonder how it got to this point. Do you ever feel the same?
I sit on the periphery of many groups and communities, not quite fitting into any, and although I’m fully aware and present in my reality, and not looking to escape it, I know I have allowed the world and all its nonsense to affect me more than it should.
Before quitting alcohol, I would say I felt most at home immersed in the drink, drugs and party scene. But knowing what I know now, I was acting. I didn’t belong there. Alcohol had seduced me into thinking I was a part of that scene when I wasn’t.
And that’s what I see now with so many people. They are pretending to be a part of a culture they shouldn't be in. I see so many people faking it and trying to be someone they are not. It’s painfully obvious to everyone but themselves.
I’ve spoken about the madness of people changing their social media profiles to fit whatever that week’s agenda is and finding comfort in the chaos but this is much more. People today seem genuinely lost and struggling to find their place in the world.
More than ever it appears that people are finding it hard to fit in. To find where they belong in society. I’ve had this dilemma recently. I have questioned my place in this world. It’s sometimes hard not to when you’re bombarded with so much shit every day.
The power we now have in our hands is something people often forget. I think that the problem began, not with the Internet, but rather with the introduction of the phone. These devices in our hands have, in my opinion, had a detrimental effect on the world.
It depends on the person using it but I would say that the phone, and the instant access to anything and everything, has created a world where no one knows who they are or their purpose for being. This instability has been debilitating for society.
